MDM-for-Office-365

As part of enhanced security and compliance features for Office 365, Microsoft have been rolling out a new set of Mobile Device Management (MDM) capabilities to new and existing Office 365 customers. This update recognises the move to a mobile workforce and part of Microsoft’s Mobile first Cloud strategy.

By allowing your users the ability to work freely anywhere and on any device, companies risk exposing their data – as a result it’s critical that you protect your organisation's information. What cost is data leakage on a personal device and how might that expose company data if it fell into the wrong hands?

At its heart the Mobile Device Management suite for Office 365 offers conditional access, which limits access to devices that only meet the requirements set out in the default security policy. Through supported apps for each mobile device the suite can define with conditional access policies what resources can be accessed. If a device doesn’t meet compliance requirements it will be revoked access until it is compliant.

You can use Mobile Device Management for Office 365 to manage mobile device access to email and data such as Android, Windows Phone and iPhone/iPad. Each person must have an assigned Office 365 license and their device must be enrolled into MDM for Office 365. In the event a device is lost, stolen or the user has simply left the company devices or just the data can be simply wiped from their device.

Advanced Mobile Device Management capabilities beyond what is offered with Office 365 are available through Microsoft Intune, which offers detailed security profiles and settings, app wrapping, mobile application management, document control, device settings and much more.
